The term “remote work”, or telework, refers to a form of work outside the headquarters of the company or business to which one provides services.
Contact with the employer or other employees is carried out by means of devices such as telephone, fax or the most popular – the Internet with the inclusion, first of all, of e-mail and all instant messaging. Thanks to remote access to the resources of the company’s internal network, it is possible not only to act individually, but also to work in teams on a single project. Everything individually depends on the specifics of the work.
The main purpose of remote work is to reduce costs (we do not pay for commuting or renting office space) and improve productivity, and the only requirement here is access to a functioning network. The benefits for employees, performing work remotely, are easier reconciliation of work with family responsibilities (here especially mothers raising single children), saving time and money spent on commuting to and from work, as well as less stress, insofar as in the employee direct contacts with the boss or co-workers cause psychological discomfort.
The most common remote work is done by people who are in professions such as network administrator, translator, accountant, journalist, sales representative, researcher.
Remote work is a very forward-looking solution. Closely related to it is the increasingly popular virtual office service. It involves companies outsourcing a certain range of the most typical duties to someone else. This service refers directly to outsourcing, i.e. handling office work without having to be at the company’s headquarters (remote work). In addition, we, as a company, do not even need to have a physical location for our business. One of the advantages of using a virtual office, is the acquisition for the company of an attractive address in the center of a large city, as well as individual phone numbers, fax numbers, a serviced email inbox. In addition, we definitely reduce the costs we would have to include in the company’s expenses when renting usable space and hiring employees. The advantage here is also that such matters as accounting, all documentation, making appointments, answering phone calls, e-mails, Internet correspondence, communication with clients, all this will be handled for us or on our behalf by qualified specialists.
Moreover, ie we need to be specialists in IT, accounting or legal issues. Such matters as even registering our business with the KRS, US, Social Security and others will be handled for us by our “virtual” secretary or accountant.
Working remotely is not only a solution for us as employees, but also a solution for us as companies that can outsource work remotely.
