Are you going to the wedding of a loved one and looking for the right dress for the wedding? The choice of cuts, styles and colors can definitely make your head spin! A great option in this case is a lace dress. Lace is a very classic and chic choice, and creations adorned with it have a distinctly romantic character – which is ideal considering the circumstances of the event. Moreover, lace models are very versatile, as they suit both young and more mature women. However, when choosing a lace dress, it is important to follow a few important rules to avoid a fashion slip-up and not attract critical stares.

Lace dress: what colors to avoid?

Although many wedding conventions have passed away, invariably the color white remains reserved for the bride. Guests should therefore forget about dresses for a wedding in white. Also inadvisable are shades close to it, so broken white, off-white, ivory, flesh-colored beige or ecru – these colors are also clearly associated with the wedding dress. However, this rule does not necessarily apply to the mother of the groom or bride. Sometimes the young couple wants the creations of those close to them to refer to their styling, in which case outfits in a light shade are most appropriate.

Another controversial choice regarding the color of the dress for the wedding is black – in Poland this shade is usually identified with funeral and mourning. Many couples wish that during such a joyous occasion as their wedding day, guests should avoid gloomy colors in their styling, and guests should of course respect this wish. Although a lace dress in black is a great, very classic choice for the office or a New Year’s Eve party, it is definitely not an advisable choice for a wedding party.

Lace dress: what color to choose?

In the palette of colors recommended for a wedding, you can find a whole spectrum of shades, but it is always worth taking into account the prevailing season and the color type of the wearer himself. Ladies of spring beauty can bet on a lace dress in shades of coral and orange. Those in the summer color group can definitely go for sea tones: classic navy blue, radiant turquoise or chic steel blue. On the other hand, for ladies with autumn beauty, a lace dress in shades of maroon, olive green or rust is recommended, while winter types can bet on both energetic fuchsia and muted shades of emerald or bottle green. On the other hand, navy blue and gray – especially its darker, such as graphite, are universal colors for most types of beauty, it is also a safe choice bearing in mind the issue of elegance and shades that can be successfully enlivened with interesting, expressive accessories.

Dresses for a wedding: what cuts to look for?

When searching for the perfect creation for a wedding – whether it is a lace dress or any other model – it is absolutely necessary to avoid cuts that are too skimpy and micro or mini length. A midi dress to mid-calf or even to the ankles will look much more chic. Also, obvious transparency in the case of a dress for a wedding is not advisable. It is also worth avoiding creations made of fabrics that are highly elastic and excessively supportive of the body.

In the case of lace dresses, by far the most favorable choice are pencil and portfolio models – such cuts will subtly emphasize the waist and add harmonious proportions to the figure, while ensuring an impeccable appearance. On the other hand, supporters of a more casual style can look around for a lace babydoll dress (cut off under the bust), trapeze dress (flared to the bottom) or boho dress (with thin straps and more voluminous below the waist line). A good choice – especially if you plan to spend a lot of time on the dance floor – is also a circle creation (fitted at the waist and heavily flared at the bottom) and a tulip dress (corseted top and sweeping at the hips, but tapered at the bottom).

Lace dress: what to pay attention to?

Lace has more than one name: there are many types and sizes of lace, and it can be placed on the dress at different points, which can affect the styling final effect and accentuate other parts of the body. A popular choice are dresses with lace along the entire length – this gives a very romantic finish. However, make sure that such a dress for a wedding is double-layered or has a lining and does not expose the body in sensitive areas. A beautiful and expressive detail in a wedding dress can also be a built-in neckline, such as a stand-up type, combined with sleeves of the same material.

With lace trim, the sleeves themselves also look great, which can be long and clinging or short and flowy. This is a detail with which you can afford to expose a little skin, and still look elegant. A great effect for a lace dress is also provided by thin straps or a plunging Spanish-style neckline. An interesting alternative to classic lace can also be guipure (convex lace) or tulle (semi-transparent fabric with fine meshes).
